Block 8 Polka Dot Girls

I finished the last block of the Polka Dot Girls a few weeks ago and just getting around to posting the picture now. I'm so happy with these stitcheries and even all the little ones are done as well. I've got half the quilt pieced already so hopefully it won't take me long to get the top finished. Check out this new blog dedicated to anyone working on PDG's, even Bronwyn Hayes the designer has joined the online group....how exciting.

I'm just finishing the binding on a Christmas wallhanging using Mary Engelbreit fabrics. I took this over to a friends on a sewing day yesterday and didn't get to sewing the binding and when I left her house I forgot to take it home.....I guess it will be a little longer before I get the binding sewn. I was also working on some curtains....blah....not my favourite thing but Quilt Hollow gave me an easy pattern and the inspiration to get it done. I'm not happy with the first one so I won't show it, that'll be my practise one and I'll do better next time.

Happy Stitching.

Fall Decorating & Giveaway

Check out this awesome giveaway over at Pumpkin Patch Primitives, she's keeping it a Halloweenie surprise.
BOO! The wool applique on these blocks is cute. I could have bought the pattern but when I saw Folktales (sorry not website) had these sets already made, who could resist. She also has a Christmas set....might have to get back to pick that one up too.
A little needlepunch pumpkinman I did a couple years ago.

I just bought this black shelf at the Fall Craft and Antique Fair last weekend, it has the newspaper ad on the back, it was originally used to hold cook books and the drawers fit the recipe cards. I'm going to experimenting with what I'll use it for.

Baby Quilt

Better late than never I always say. This little baby quilt is for Taylor born Aug 8th. My daughters friends are having babies and I've made one for each of them, this is the 5th quilt. One friend has 3 kids and the other one now has 2 kids. I hope they will be slowing down soon. My daughter friends always look forward to receiving their new baby quilts from me.

One of my daughter friends is career oriented like my daughter, they both just graduated from university. Well Lara was talking about quilts the last time I saw her, I was getting the sense she is feeling left out because there are no plans for babies anytime soon for the career girls. I think it's about time Lara got her own quilt, maybe a lap quilt would be nice.
A back view of polka dot flannel, this quilt is so soft.

I took this picture just so you can see the entire quilt, it's about 32"x42"...a good snuggle size quilt.

Swap

WOW has this week ever flown by so fast and I'm behind on quilting and reading blogs as well. It must be the turkey I've been thinking about. It's the Canadian Thanksgiving this coming weekend and everyone has turkey on their mind.

I can now show my goodies from Sharon, Darlene, Judy and Carol, we did a 30's block swap for a number of months and at the end we all exchanged little "Thank you" gifts. Here is the sewing machine cover that Carol made (I didn't have one and it really comes in handy), the little 30's quilt from Judy (so adorable), the zipper pouch from Sharon (oh I have many uses for this one) and you can see the stitching angel Darlene sent below (she sits on my quilt shelf in my kitchen). I made everyone a bag using buggy barn fabrics, you can see it here, it's the one done in pinks and browns. Thanks so much ladies for a great time and fun gifts. Can't wait until the next one....teehee.

Fall Cat

I started this fall kitty last weekend and I've delivered it all completed to the LQS for making into kits (click on the picture to get a closer view). I ws a bit nerves about picking fabrics that I knew would be made into a kit (what if I'm the only one that likes it...eek...the shop would be stuck with kits that don't sell), I think the kitty turned out pretty cute. It's a small little wallhanging and I had fun making her. I did a "big stitch" quilting and freezer paper applique. If this kit interests you then go to this web site and ask for Meow at the Moon kit, Jenny would be happy to send to you.

The red vines hanging on my fence around the kitty are actually part of the vines coming from the garage. See the picture below of the garage, the kitty picture was taken in the far back cover. When the leaves get a bit redder I'll show another picture.
Another fabric basket for the Halloween season, these are fast to make. Check out the tutorial here.
