Jan Finishes

My finishes for the OPAM challenge. Another Schnibbles pattern called "Hat Trick" all quilted and bound.
This little quilt I had the top made for a while and finally got around to quilting and finishing the binding.

Here is the "Hot Cross" Schnibbles all quilted and binding finished. My Tisket-A-Tasket BunnyHill redwork blocks are all stitched and I've started to assemble them in a quilt.

Sat I had the most awesome day of sewing. This was a one day retreat hosted by Maureen owner of Creative Edge Quilt Shop (no website). Actually I've had a couple of good sewing days last week. I started the blocks for this little topper at my stitching group and now it's ready for quilting. It's a Schnibbles pattern called Hot Cross. And then Sat I started a new quilt by making these basket blocks, another quilt pattern from my newest favourite book called Scrap Basket Surprises. Here is the first quilt I made from this book.

I have to tell you Maureen is a wonderful host, she had all our needs and wants taken care of including a gift for each person and prizes throughout the day. She also cooked the most delicious Greek dinner. She must have been cooking for days to feed all us hungry quilters. It was a wonderful day! The next post I'll show a few pictures of the show and tell.

Happy Quilting. Until next time.

Starting BOM

A new BOM started for 2010. This BOM is two of the same blocks each month, there will be 6 different blocks and then the alternate blocks with sashing and nine patches. The pattern instructions are great because when I'm done the block each month, both blocks are completed at the same time. I'm loving the reds, green, browns and the background fabric.

Hollywood and Vine Quilt

It's been a long time since I've made a quilt so big 90" x 102". Working with all that fabric and sewing the borders on was a challenge. Most of the quilts I make are lap size or smaller. You might have noticed on my side bar I've joined the OPAM challenge. The rules state the project has to be quilted and bound to be on the list of FINISHES. So this one will be on my completed flimsy list. I better get moving if I'm going to have something to put on my FINISHED list for Jan. How about you? Did you join the OPAM challenge? Have you got a FINISH on your Jan list?

Happy Quilting, until next time.

UFO

A UFO closer to becoming a quilt, I showed this a few months back and only the star blocks were complete, now the alternate blocks are done as well...yippee.

All 90 blocks are pieced and ready to become a completed quilt top. This quilt will be a queen size and it's definitely going to be for my bed.

I forget to show this bird pincushion I made my daughter as a Christmas gift.

Surprises

As promised I'm back with my new quilt to start the year. Occasionally scrap baskets can really surprise you, I made this quilt entirely from my stash including the setting triangles and borders. I'm hoping this will happen a little more often to clear out some space in my tiny little sewing room. This is from the book Scrap-Basket Surprises and the pattern is called "Kitchen Sink", all the pieces are the same size for the center. My hubby called these chubby little pinwheels...isn't that cute. It's a great book, I love how this quilt turned out.

Snowed In

I'm still traumatized after being stranded in the snow. We went to a small town in Northern BC "bad idea in the middle of winter", what we do to see family over the holidays. The airplane was a small prop plane "another bad idea". we had a very nice time visiting, playing board games and watching the snow coming down all around. I didn't think about how that would effect getting home, "the snow kept falling". The little prop airplane could get up there but couldn't land, "due to poor visibility" you guessed it, they didn't pick us up....so now the airplane is going back to Vancouver without us. The only thing we could do is drive back to stay the night again "1 hour of driving in full-on snow storm"....you get the picture. My In-Laws were scheduled to leave after us but got home before we did. I'm so happy to be home, no more trips in the winter for me. I needed some serious relaxing time after that trip.

I hope everyone had a wonderful time over the holidays and spent New Years doing whatever makes you happy, we stayed home, I made dinner for the family and went to bed early.

I started cutting and piecing a quilt on New Years Day, I'll be back tomorrow to show you my first flimsy of the year.

Until next time....happy quilting.
