Sue Spargo Class

We arrived home today from a driving trip to Spokane (boy am I pooped). The Buggy Barn quilt show was wonderful, I'll post pictures of the quilts on a separate post, but first I'll show you the class I took with Sue Spargo. Here is one of her spectacular samples hanging in the class room, the colours are outstanding.

More wonderful samples of bags and backpacks to drool over, Sue's choices of wool and embellishments are what makes the projects so beautiful.

Lots of yummy wool in the class room tempting the students to purchase.

Show and tell from one of the students.

Another outstanding sample done by Sue, really the picture doesn't not do it justice.

Here is the awesome project we worked on for 2 days (look at that cute button) but wait there's more, this is only the cover of the sewing case (it's bigger than it looks in the picture), there is more applique and embellishments on the back and the inside.....it's going to take me a while to get this one finished but I've got a good start on it. You can see more pictures on Sue's blog. Sue is an excellent teacher and made sure we knew what to do. The class included a complete kit and lunch with dessert.

I'll be back again soon with pictures of Buggy Barn show.

Happy Quilting.

4 Patch Mini

Another mini is finished, I didn't use a pattern. I had a small kit for a little quilt that didn't interest me anymore so I used those pieces to sew scrappy 4 patches and this is what happened. I'm so hooked on these mini quilts and having so much fun making them. Does anyone else do that? Use a kit for something other than what it was intended for?

Boo is hiding in the shrubs or at least that's what  he thinks. Maybe a squirrel will wonder by and he can chase them.

Has it been a week already since my last post, I really meant to post something sooner. I had a terrible summer cold and my head was a big fuss ball, I could hardly stay awake and focus on anything. The little bits of time I was out of bed I did some sewing, I didn't have to think very hard. Here is a mini red and white snowball quilt I managed to sew. I'm feeling much much better this week and it's going to be a busy week with work, two sewing group meetings and a lunch with some friends.

Have a great week!

Dots and Family

No sewing while company has been in the house. My sister is recovering well from her heart operation. She will be going home tomorrow to rest up and build her strength. It's been 3 long weeks of worry for the whole family and we are all relieved she is doing so well considering her open heart surgery was last Wed. The hospital puts them on a excellent schedule to get them up and circulation going again. She'll do great if she follows doctors orders.

I bought this bowl at this antique shop, I was so thrilled to find a red polka dot bowl and it matches my red and white little quilt. When the house is quiet again (hopefully tomorrow) I'll be sewing a few little quilts....wish me luck.

Happy Quilting.

Mini Quilt

I received my mini quilt kit from Daisy Cottage last week, I couldn't wait to get started on this mini. Here it is all pieced, quilted and binding finished. I love how this one came together.

I just love scrap quilts especially if they are little quilts.

I also received my squares from the Red/White swap that Karen organized. We each received 125 5" squares and they are all fantastic. I'm so happy I signed up for this one, the fabrics are so unique. I've changed my mind so many times on what quilt to make,  I just can't decide, there is so many possibilities.

Boo was feeling left out from my last post, here he is waiting to say "hi". He likes to sit out front of the house and wait for someone to walk by so he can do his little cat tricks of rolling around looking cute.
