As with anything, it just takes practice. And I should take my own advice and apply it to machine quilting.Jeannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11479326539899743265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-413851723073175452.post-31251972038479592692007-07-26T12:42:00.000-07:002007-07-26T12:42:00.000-07:00Ah... don't sweat about hand quilting. I push the needle with my fingernail and manage not to get holes poked in me.

For this kind of project, I wouldn't work too hard at the tiny stitches. Those are small pieces, and your stitches are proportionate, and even, which is much more important than small.

Check out Tonya's quilting advice at Lazy Gal Quilting. =)Susan https://www.blogger.com/profile/09159163720029661287noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-413851723073175452.post-33122689141824483342007-07-26T04:25:00.000-07:002007-07-26T04:25:00.000-07:00You bag is beautiful and the quilting stitches loo...You bag is beautiful and the quilting stitches look very even...counts more than size!~Bren~https://www.blogger.com/profile/14533891842002502385noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-413851723073175452.post-79976873496926665112007-07-26T02:46:00.000-07:002007-07-26T02:46:00.000-07:00You have made a beautiful little hexagon bag.Regar...You have made a beautiful little hexagon bag.
Regards,

Sonnja from the NetherlandsBeertje Zonnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11933932175563968129noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-413851723073175452.post-45845220943872927532007-07-25T13:43:00.000-07:002007-07-25T13:43:00.000-07:00I am definitely going to have to make one of these...I am definitely going to have to make one of these bags - too cute *s*

Don't give up on the thimble, if I can learn to use one . . . anyone can.Libbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17872055894285312153noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-413851723073175452.post-62176694067947632162007-07-25T13:22:00.000-07:002007-07-25T13:22:00.000-07:00Adorable bag! I spent a long time also trying to use whatever finger the thimble wasn't on, but finally got it together after finding one of the 'open' ones to accomodate my fingernails and wearing it around the house for a day or two (I got so used to it that I would be surprised that it was there when I needed to use the powder room!)

Having said that, I don't actually hand-quilt unless I do want big stitches. Too many projects, too little time!!!

The big stitches are perfect for your project - it's adorable! I agree with Belvie, it's very primitive looking!

Oh, you understand exactly how I feel about a thimble! ICK! I have a strong desire to hand quilt but that thimble thing may be my undoing. I do the same you do - I want to use every other finger to push my needle rather than the finger with the thimble on it. What's up with that???
