Lost Redwork
I was looking through some bins of fabric, not sure what I was looking for at the time. I came across this sweet red check fabric and instantly remembered I was saving that "special piece" for a redwork project I started long time ago. I'm embarrassed to say how long it's been since I started this stitchery. I knew just were the redwork blocks were hiding and quickly grabbed them to put with the red check. I had three and a half blocks completed when I stopped stitching and put it away. Oops...looks like I should have ironed the fabric before taking the picture. There are a total of 6 redwork blocks in this small quilt. I think it's time to finish this puppy...don't you think...lol. The pattern is from Blackbird Designs called "Samples from the Past" part 2. That might give you a hint of how old.
I've done a little prep-work on my Birds of a Feather. I might have 2 blocks to show after the weekend. Wish me luck.
Thanks for dropping by and reading my blog. I hope you'll visit again soon.
How lovely! I can't wait to see it finished. It will be beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful project and the red check is perfect. Can't wait to see this 'puppy' finished. :-)
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to drop you a line to say how much i enjoy reading your blog. You always inspire me and leave me with a smile on my face!
ReplyDeleteWow ... these pieces are just begging to be finished.
ReplyDeleteI love redwork and your blocks are beautiful. I can't wait to see it all finished. I know how it is with UFO's, they become out of sight, out of mind. Terry
ReplyDeleteYour redwork is adorable. It will make a cute quilt.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice project, can wait to see it done.
ReplyDeleteI love those redwork blocks. Hope you enjoy your bird blocks too.
ReplyDeleteThat is going to be very lovely, I have Birds of a Feather on my list also, I love all of their designs.
ReplyDeleteI recognised those blocks straightaway, because that pattern is one I often thought about making, but unlike you I never got round to it:) I think it's a lovely pattern and will be a gorgeous quilt.
ReplyDeleteThink I might have a rake about and see if I can find an UFO to solve my quilters block.I love gingham type fabric too.Looking forward to seeing finished quilt.
ReplyDeleteLOL!! I always take a photo of a quilt or fabric then realize i should have IRONED!!!! So your not alone.
ReplyDeleteWhat a treasure! That are some sweet looking blocks! I can't wait to see what you do with them! Can I come look for treasures in your home? LOL Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHow fun to find a project. I hope you enjoy working on it. I really do enjoy reading your blog.
ReplyDeleteThat red check is going to be perfect with those blocks. I've bought some patterns to do some redwork blocks....but I'm not letting myself start them until I have the other 2 quilts I'm working on finished! Too many UFO's to start another project.
ReplyDeleteWendy that checked fabric is going to look so sweet with your redwork project, great choice.
ReplyDeleteI think it's always such a great feeling to finish up something from the past.
Hugs - karen
You're not going to believe this... I have that EXACT same fabric awaiting redwork blocks that I have done; I bought it for the sashing between the blocks a long, long time ago! I will break it out and post it on my blog this week so that you can see. Considering the fact I was drooling over your strawberry pincushion and then learned I HAD the pattern in a book already, I'd say we have a lot in common! Are you my long lost sister? ;)
ReplyDeleteWow -- that's going to be neat with the red checks!
ReplyDeleteOh how wonderful! That fabric is going to work so wonderfully with thhose blocks!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see it done up. I've just started doing redwork lately and I'm really enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I call a lovely surprise! Can't wait to see a picture of this one finished!
ReplyDeleteYour redwork is so pretty - it will be just lovely in a quilt.
ReplyDelete*hugs*

Hi,
ReplyDeleteI am new to your blog and
your blocks are beautiful! I haven't done much embroidery lately but hope to get back into it.
I also have grown children (3) & 11 grandchildren!
Do you know any shop or person in Canada that sells Samples from the Past? I would dearly love to make the quilt but can't find the booklets anywhere.
Sure would appreciate any help on that.
Keep stitching along!
