Block One

I just realized I hadn't posted the new improved version of Block One of Ruby's Garden, the other blocks can be see here and here. The one on the right is using the floss colours listed on the pattern and the one on the left is the colours I substituted. It must be the background fabric I'm using because some of the colours are not showing well. All the other blocks I've been using the colours listed and it's worked fine, just not this one.

Enjoy the summer and I hope you have time for stitching.

  2. Not a question for your block specifically, but I hope you can help.

I am hand embroidering a design to go into a quilt. The background fabric is a lavender-on-white toile. The design has a bazillion French knots scattered all over.

I don't know whether I should tie off each French Knot (and have the tails possibly show through on the front) or should I not tie off the embroidery thread from French Knot to French Knot (and have the thread (again) possibly show on the front)?

    thank you for your opinion.

  3. I'm sure it's the background that is causing the lighter thread to blend too much. I love the new version! Looks great!

  8. That is such a sweet quilt. Thanks for posting about it. I decided to make it myself. I'm with you on the colours of the snowdrops. Ecru does not show up very well. Great idea to substitute a different colour. I was just testing it myself last night and didn't like the way the flowers looked. Hugs!
