Swoon Quilt

TA DA.....finally sewed on the borders....whew. I wanted this quilt to fit my bed, so that's why I added a border. It's a big quilt and it took me a while to get in the mood to sew on the border. The Swoon quilt is a fun block to make and with the size of the blocks, it goes fast.
I'll take a better picture when I machine quilt this one. It will be a few weeks because I have some customer quilt to do first. My quilts always go to the bottom of the list....oh well I'll work it in between somewhere.

Happy Quilting.

Civil War Quilt Challenge

Most of this last weekend has been spent in the garden. There is still lots to do but I made a good dent in getting the weeds out. The temperature has been prefect in that it's not to hot yet.

I forgot to show this sampler quilt a while back, this was part of a Civil War Sampler Quilt Challenge offered at Two Thimbles Quilt Shop. It was on display at the shop until last month. The idea was to use scraps only for the blocks, all the fabric for the blocks was provided. I added the sashing and border from my stash. You can see them all hanging here and the winners here.
I also finished this little quilt with applique, I like to use the freezer paper method. The log cabin blocks are made using scraps from a friends stash. She is down sizing and offered our stitching group some of her fabric. It was fun incorporating her fabric in my project.

Happy Quilting!

Happy Mothers Day

What did you do for Mother's Day? I've been spending a little time in my sewing room. I pieced this block together in between going out for brunch and soon we'll be going out for dinner with my daughter.  I love these relaxing days when I can sew without other things on my mind, like what am I going to make for dinner tonight.

Have a great day.

Swoon Quilt

It doesn't show in the picture but I have the stopper border attached using the same fabric as the background. The Swoon quilt is almost finished....woohoo.  I picked a outer border last week and still need to add that. This has got to be my favourite quilt.

Now if this cough would just go away, I would have more energy for sewing. Not sleeping well at night really takes it out of you.

That's my daughter's dog Fonz with his toy monkey. He's sure likes his toys. Leah doesn't let me take the toys on walks anymore, I remember how cute Fonz looked walking down the street with Sponge Bob's legs danging from his month.

Happy Quilting.
