I've finished machine quilting my 4-patch quilt, the binding is waiting for hand sewing. The quilting pattern I did was inspired by Kathreen Ricketson, in her book "Little Bits Quilting Bee" she had quilted a large logcabin quilt in a back and forth zigzag pattern. This type of quilting is out of my comfort zone but the reason I did this was because a customer has made the logcabin quilt from the book and wanted the same quilting pattern. This is when I heard about the tragic story of Kathreen's death, you can read about it here and visit her website here. Such a sad story.
I've started a new applique project. I'm using Hugs and Kisses new freezer paper method. The paper stays in and washes away later, I haven't tried the washing yet....we'll see how it goes. I usually do the starch method but I like this method because I don't need to use a iron. The edges are glued over the freezer paper and washed out.
We had a busy week with moving my daughter 4 hours away so she can go back to school. I see more driving in my future.
Happy Quilting!

Love your quilt Wendy. Such a sad tragedy for Kathreen and her DH. Let me get this straight~ you wash out the freezer paper? I've never heard of washable freezer paper.~?
Have a wonderful weekend!
The D9P looks great. Love the quilting pattern. I'm going to have to try it.
Isn't it a D4P? In any case, the quilt is beautiful!! I love your fabric color choices and the quilting is awesome!!!
Always fun to see what your up to. Indeed a sad sad story and to read her children saw it happen....
Love your 4-patch quilt!! I started the same applique quilt a few years ago using French General fabrics! You motivate me to return to it.
Love your quilt - so pretty. I bought some of that paper at quilt market and I haven't tried it yet - what project have you started - it looks so pretty already
Hugs - Karen
I love the way you quilted your 4 patch quilt. It's adorable.
I'm smitten with your applique project, Wendy. I need to learn more about the applique paper - I'm intrigued.
I love the D4P quilt and the quilting looks awesome on it.
love your 4patch quilt! have had one on my must-do list for a while now lol. great quilting.
Such a bright and cheery quilt there. Makes me smile. Love the applique too.
It's quilted and gorgeous! So bright and cheerful! Please let us know how the new freezer paper works. I think I might like it... will look for it at the AQS show in October.
You're really getting into some Australian designers! Hugs n Kisses by Helen Stubbings and I see some Bronwyn Hayes embroidery at the header of your blog. Your quilt looks great, but I'm particularly loving the fabrics you're using in your appliqué. I hope you get to see your daughter often still.
Great stuff from this part of the internet. Again, thank you for this blog.
