Quilt and Stitchery

I wish I could say I've had a busy week of quilting....not. My sewing room has NOT seen me all week, the first part of the week is a blur and the last couple of days I spent working at the quilt shop. I was going to show you a "thimble quilt" that I just finished. I took it to the shop yesterday and now I can't find it this morning, I must have dropped it or something. I hope it's there somewhere. So instead, I'll show a quilt I did last year as a swap with Darlene, we swapped the 9patches until we had enough to make a lap quilt. Darlene can you spot the blocks you made? When I showed it last year the quilting wasn't done. I love this quilt and I had a wonderful time making all those 3" blocks. I use this quilt for my occasional naps.

I did some stitching this week, a finish for Feb free BOM (link is in my side bar). I think this will be a very sweet little quilt, I'm looking forward to March block coming soon.

I'm going to a retreat next weekend, so I'll need to get ready for that. I've decided not to bring too many projects this time and instead focus on one or two quilts I have in progress and maybe I'll come home with something finished....woohoo.

    I love 3" 9 patches. My first quilt project was a vest that had 3" 9 patches. Not knowing what I was doing I fussy cut 1 1/2" squares with flowers in the center. They came out great and I later learned that I had done it the hard way. I have also learned that we sometimes have to take a vacation, even from quilting.

    Both quilt and stitchery are to my liking! Am I going to be jealous when I see this stitchery quilt finished? Should I have started that one too? Hmmmm

    What a beautiful quilting for napping
    The red really makes the nine-patch blocks pop.

    Such a beautiful quilt Wendy - I think scrappy quilts are so yummy - I just love all the colors and to have blocks from a special friend in the quilt makes it that much more special. Your stitchery block is very sweet.

    Love, love, love that darling 9-patch quilt. The color of the alternate blocks just sets them off so nicely. Good job on the Gail Pan stichery too.

    Oh another thing I have to finish!! And the rail fences!! I have all my 9 patches from my swap with Carol. I have plenty of that red and I just might use it...although I wanted mine to be different too. I'll have to see what I can find that might work too. But I do like that red....hummm.

    Oh my goodness look at your quilt! I'd forgotten that yours is quilted and being enjoyed. Mine? Oh, I pieced the backing recently so I probably should consider quilting it soon. That quilt holds wonderful memories for me. Sigh!

    I la,la,LOVE your mini 9-patch quilt!!! All last year I hosted a swap of these little cuties and have hundreds of them. We swapped each quarter an assigned color theme... and so I have a whole assortment.

    Red is my favorite color and your quilt just sings to me! Now I know what is on my shopping list... the perfect red fabric to use for alternating blocks.

    Do you mind if I share your blog and photo of this quilt with all of my mini swappers? We love to share ideas of inspriation with one another as these little blocks are so versitle in how they can be used.

    Also I love your Christmas Wish stitchery blocks - I jsut recently started mine and only have 3 done.. and have to say your threads are beautiful! Can't wait to see what fabrics you add to your blocks to set them together.
