Just In Time

This little Christmas quilt is finished, I loved making these blocks all year long. I hope there will be another one starting in Jan. I still have one more Christmas project not completed, with less than a week I hope to have it finished. That's after.....I get the binding on my daughters quilt and knit one more scarf (I've done 3 this last week) and finish a birdie pincushion of my younger daughter. I'd probably would have everything done already..... if I hadn't decided at the last minute to knit a few scarves for gifts.

The Christmas baking is done, my daughter and I baked all day. We have gingersnaps, coconut tarts, whipped shortbread, rum balls and vanilla/chocolate sugar cookies, I think that should be enough for the holiday treats. Like Karen said we are in that "get-r-dun" mode and "I will make it" this year feeling. When someones figures out how it all comes so fast.....let me know so I can slow it down. How about everyone else....are you feeling ready for the holidays?

Warm Winter Wishes to everyone.

Decorating

Everything is working again...Thanks to my DH, I can now upload my pictures. The candy canes looked a bit lonely when I saw this picture so I added some rusty bells after taking the picture. The tree is all decorated as well, now I just need to get some energy to get out there and do some shopping.
It's hard to see from this picture but the flying snowman is scattering snowflakes in the wind or I guess he could be collecting them, not sure which. There are beads on the snowflakes, I don't know if you can see that (click on the picture). This Crabapple Hill pattern was fun to stitch, I can't say the same about the shoo-fly blocks, they were very fiddly.
A close up of the snowman with a bag of snowflakes sparkling in the wind.

I did this punchneedle snowman a couple of years ago, he's attached to a wool pocket filled with greenery and a rusty wire hanger. A few bloggers were asking the question "what do you collect?" well I collect snowmen, anyone else?

Thanks for the visit, have a great day.

Lula

Since I can't get my camera to download the most recent pictures, here is a picture I took a few weeks ago of Lula enjoying the soft pile of quilts. The flash sure made her green eyes show up bright in this picture. I have to wait for hubby to get home and figure out why the pictures aren't down loading....grrr. Enjoy your day, I'll be back with my newest stitchery completed and a little bit of Christmas decorating. Oh I almost forgot....check out My Brown Bag Studio giveaway, some really cute stuff here.

Home Tour and Winter Wishes

Where have I been you say....well it's been really boring around my house lately....not much of anything happening....my sewing room has been sitting idle way too long....no sewing going on....just a wee bit of stitching. Wouldn't you love your table to be so prefect for your holiday feast. In my neighbourhood there is a "Holiday Home Tour", this table setting was in one of the homes....isn't it just stunning. Look at the real candles burning on the iron chandelier above the table....yes those candles are REAL and they are lit as well. I didn't get many other good pictures...I was too busy looking around and having a great time touring though beautifully decorated homes.

Yesterday I made this yummy delicious....oh so good Crunchy Maple Corn....I used the largest roasting pan I have and it was full yesterday.....this little bowl is all that remains today. You can try this same recipe over here....watch out I'm warning you.... it's very addicting. I also finished this little Winter Wishes stitchery to add to my holiday decorating, the pattern came from over here.

Have a great day, thanks for stopping by.

Christmas Table Runner

It's been very windy and rainy all day here and we are in for more of the same tomorrow. It makes for long dark gloomy days and not great for taking pictures either, the colours are much better in person. A finished table runner in Christmas fabrics, the little touch of black really makes it and I can use this up until New Years.

The gold is not as mustard looking as the photo shows. I don't feel very productive this week, I've had 2 migraines and that really takes me down for a whole day. I haven't had migraines for at least a year, I hope this isn't the start of more to come over the winter. Next on my quilting list is to finish a stitchery from Crabapple Hill.

Have a great week everyone.

Christmas BOM Completed

Christmas BOM is all stitched, quilted and binding on. I decided on doing a "stitch in the ditch" for the quilting, since it's a small wallhanging it didn't need a lot of quilting. I'm so happy to have this one completed. For anyone wishing to purchase this pattern go to Two Thimbles quilt shop.

On to the next Christmas stitchery, I plan to be ready when the season arrives. Usually I'm way behind and telling my self "it's okay because I'll be ready for next Christmas". That might still happen, who knows....

Happy Stitching Everyone.

Cross Country Christmas

I was checking out a view blogs today and look what I found, Cross Country Christmas Blog Hop, 12 wonderful designers are sharing their talents with quick projects for Christmas. Check out the list of designers here. Starting on Wed they are going to have a little guessing game, see if you can spot the baby. I'm so excited, I can't wait to see the first project posted Nov 9th.

I've finished stitching and piecing the Christmas BOM here, watch for a picture posted soon, as soon as I finish the quilting and binding....soon....very soon. I get lots of questions on where to find a pattern, the Christmas BOM can be purchased here. I've also started on another little Christmas stitchery from this designer....when will I ever have time to sleep with all this stitching I've been doing???

Happy Stitching to Everyone.

Stitching

The last week has just flown by. I've had very little time for cruising the blogs the last couple of weeks as well. I need to check around the blogs and see what everyone has been doing....I miss you guys.

I've done a little stitching, Gail Pan blocks are completed and Bunnyhill redwork I'm working on catching up. Slowly I've been working at my star blocks I talked about here. I really want to get this one finished but seem to be getting interrupted somehow. The Halloween quilt is off to the long-arm quilter. I know she'll do something really nice with the quilting and then it will go to my daughter.

I've completed another quilt on the long-arm rental at this shop. Still need to get a picture so I can post about it. The quilt is for my other daughter and done with much brighter fabrics. She'll get that one for Christmas.

Until next time.

A Little of This and That

The weather has turned for the worst here. We've been enjoying cool fall days with lots of sun. Today the wind and rain has started, it seems so much colder when it's wet wind. This last weekend was Canadian Thanksgiving, we enjoyed our family gathering with lots of yummy turkey.

I've been working on my Christmas Stitchery that I started here, it's a pattern by Lynette Anderson. This is the outer border of a small wallhanging. I'll show it again when I get it all together.
I decided to get out my oldest UFO which I think might be 6 years old. Some of my friends might recognize this fabric, a few of us started this quilt together, it's called Hollywood and Vines. Only one of us from the group finished her quilt and that was last year. She now lives far away and we miss her very much. Look Bev I'm working on mine again...Thanks to you, I'm soooo excited. I love the blacks, beige's and reds. The reds are in the alternate block which I still need to start.

The quilt is going to be queen size for my bed. I hope I can stay focused and get this one finished soon.

Halloween Row Quilt is Finished!

Thank you so much to everyone for all your lovely comments about my Halloween quilt, I really do appreciate each and everyone. I can't always reply to each person but I read everyone and love to hear from you. The name of the pattern is "Halloween Row Quilt", I had a few questions on the pattern name. The quilt is 52"x61", a little smaller than the original pattern only by a few inches.

Here is a closer look at the spider legs. I used Aurifil wool thread and a funky stitch on my Janome. The eyes are tiny buttons I found at Micheal's. If you are looking for this pattern check out this shop.

Happy Stitching.

Almost Done Halloween Quilt

All the rows are sewn together, a couple more things to do. The orange and black borders to add and small button eyes for the bats and spiders. The pattern called for chenille yarn for the spider legs, I used a funky stitch on my machine and I'm happy with how it turned out. Next this quilt will be a sample for a few weeks at this shop (Jenny you better get those kits ready) and then it'll be a gift for my daughter, she loves Halloween decorating. I want to give her a surprise gift for all the hard work she's been doing at college. She just started a 2 year program on Child and Youth Development and loves it.

Halloween is Coming!

I love Halloween, here is some progress on a quilt I started working on this week. The pattern is called "Halloween Row Quilt", it has a couple of mistakes and so I emailed the designer and she was quick to send me the corrects. Here are 2 rows done, the other rows have spiders, bats and pumpkins. It's a fun quilt to work on. In between working on this one I'm still working on my Christmas stitchery with all the reindeer going around the border.

Check out this awesome give-away. It's filled with everything all about Halloween, I'd love to see this basket come to my house....I can dream can't I.

Lula has claimed a comfy spot to sleep while I'm stitching. She sure is funny sometimes, one morning DH and I woke up to find all her toys spread all over our bed, she had spent the night carrying them up the stairs. She'll also take the toys back down stairs to the living room....she can't decide where the toys should be...it's too funny.

Machine Quilting

It's been awhile since I've been able to post. My husband thought it was a good idea to remove the tool that allows me to upload pictures. He said it made the computer faster by removing it, well the whole exercise had slowed me down. Anyway all is fixed again. I've finished a little Schnibbles quilt called "Little Red", mine doesn't look anything like the pattern, the fabrics are from the Moda's Patisserie line. I used one charm pack with some extra yardage. I machine quilted this on my home machine.
Here is the quilt from my last post all quilted and bound. I rented time on a long-arm machine here. It's been a really good learning experience working with the long-arm. Lee the shop owner is very helpful when I needed her to step in to keep my on track. There are many steps to follow to get a quilt done. I certainly want to do more.

The detail of the quilting on the back, it's an edge to edge design. I used flannel because it's soft to snuggle now that we are getting into the fall.

I'm still working on my Christmas stitcheries....all eight little reindeer are going to take me a while to stitch.
