Friendship Triangles and Quilt Show

I've finished the borders on my HST quilt I showed in the last post. I didn't want the borders to overcome the quilt and take away from the center piecing so I picked this paisley fabric that had all the colours from the center. The pattern is from the Laundry Basket book, it's the one on the front cover and the books is called Friendship Triangles. As well this is my first mitered border....I don't do miters but this quilt really needed it. Now it's ready for quilting.....woohoo.....it's finished. I can now move on to something completely different and not the type of fabrics I usually buy.
Close up miter. It's done and I'm so very happy.
A few photo's of the local Car Show and Quilt Walk.....sorry no pictures of cars....just quilts.
Cute ducks.
For the cat lover, it's an older one but I thought it was done so well.
This snowman quilt is all done in wool appliqued on flannel background. The picture doesn't do it justice, she has embellished with beads, buttons and embroidery. It's all done so beautifully and with just the right details added to each block.

Happy Quilting, I'll be back with a new quilt very soon. Enjoy the dog days of summer.

  1. Your triangle quilt is wonderful! I started one similar to it many years ago, but didn't finish it. I think I need to re-examine that pattern and make it up with more current fabrics. Thanks for the inspiration.

  12. Hi Wendy,
Saw your comments on my blog and just had to come visit yours. Your friendship triangle quilt is stunning. A labor of love! I have a free pattern that describes how I miter a corner if you are interested, but you look like you have it down! I also love your embroidery! I am a follower now so I will keep in touch as your remodel and embroidery progress. Wow, love the wool applique! We share some of the same interests!

  13. You got such a perfect border for that quilt! It frames it very subtley and you did a great job on the mitering. I think mitered corners look so much more professional. On the last quilt I pieced I was watching TV while I put the borders on. After I finished and looked at it, I said, "Oops, forgot to miter the corners."

  18. I know what you mean about starting this quilt. I have a box of tiny (1 to 1 1/2 inch) hsts from trimming other quilt blocks. I know there is a quilt like yours in my future, but I know it will make me insane too!

Your quilt is so pretty. Totally worth the work.
