Roll Roll, Cotton Boll

I had a wonderful Mother's Day with strawberry crepes for breakfast, beautiful roses from my daughter and lots of time to sew. I sewed all weekend, some of you might remember I made these blocks here, This weekend was working on the alternate block for Bonnie's mystery quilt. So much more piecing than I expected and I didn't do Bonnie's method of sewing on paper. I'm soooo glad I decided right from the start not to make the big version. And guess what...... It's not over yet, I still have to piece and add the outer border.
I'm very happy with how this quilt is looking so far, I never would have put this colour combination together on my own.

Happy Quilting.

I think it's beautiful just the way it is! Maybe you don't really need to piece the border? LOL

Wendy, it is always such a treat to see what you are working on or have accomplished. Glad you had such a perfect Mother's Day!

Your quilt is lovely. My top is done but not quilted. I had so much fun doing this quilt. Can't wait to see yours with the border on. Hugs.

Well, you are so much farther along than I am. I do have it cut out and have even gotten some of the steps finished. I underestimated the amount of background fabric so I quit when I didn't know what to do about it. May do what you did and just make it smaller.

Looks wonderful!

so pretty Wendy!

I think 12 blocks is a perfect size. Almost wish I had done that. 20 blocks is huge, I can't even imagine how big 30 is!! I so love this quilt, and I am so glad I don't have to "covet" everyone else's - I have one of my own!! Great job!

Your Roll Cotton Boll quilt top is looking very good. I have the pattern saved for future use. I have seen the quilt on a couple blogs and all have said it is a lot of sewing. But I think the time spent is well worth the result.

Oh Wendy...I'm smitten! This is so pretty! Also...is your header new today? Perhaps I'm just more "aware" and it caught my eye with today's quilt post.

I remember the post about those blocks, how beautiful the pink, red and green look together. My goodness, you do have a lot of piecing to do...but you are so good at making quilts that I have no doubt how beautiful this quilt must look in person. I think it's one of my favorite quilts you have done. I love the little roses in the cream fabric too.
So glad you had such a wonderful Mother's Day weekend.

That sure is a lot of piecing, but it's oh-so-pretty! Seeing it quilted will be a treat, too!
Cheers!

I love this quilt, Lori at Humble Quilts just showed hers off today as well. You are right, it's an interesting combo but it sure works.
I'm glad you got your Jo quilt finished, that is one that's on my list of "to do's"

You are so clever! I didn't want to do the string piecing either, but couldn't decided what else to do. I could totally make the alternate blocks Wendy's way! Thanks for the inspiration...I'm going to get that project out again!

Wow! Lovely! And you chose the smaller size? What's with huge quilts these days? Most BOM are over 100", what gives? Heck, I could hide my bed with a quilt that size! lol Well, your quilt is really lovely!

I like how you did your alternate blocks. I didn't participate because of the colors and now I wish I had. I guess I could start now, but too many irons in the fire! Yours is really pretty.
