All About Cats

I'm sure you are probably getting tired of my cat quilts by now. But this was my big accomplishment for the week, my little cats quilt finished with quilting and binding sewn down. The 30's quilt is quilted with daisy's, so sweet for summer.

I'm ready for fall with this one all quilted with pumpkins. I can't wait to wash these, I love the crinkled look after a quilt comes out of the dryer. I have another fall project in the works....soon you'll see my witch project, no promises for how soon.

I've received a few requests for more cat pictures, I'll do my best to accommodate. Here is Lula on the front porch, she will go outside for about 5 seconds and then as soon as she hears a noise back in the house she runs. You can see she is ready to dart back in the house.

Oh look......there she goes back in the house as fast as she can. That's her big out door adventure for the day, tomorrow will be a repeat of today.

Have a great weekend!

Summer is Here!

This is the first opportunity to post a few projects I've been working on lately. We've been very busy the last few days with a family emergency on my side and out of town family visiting on my husbands side and that doesn't include dealing with painters. They should be finished soon but now we have to repair the damaged (NEW) roof over the porch, the painters are paying for that. I'm so tired today......what day is it ????......I thought yesterday was Sat.....I'm so confused with so much going on and I don't see it slowing down any time soon.

This summer table topper is quilted with daisy's, bound and washed......I love the cheerfulness of this quilt. We've also had the first sunny days of summer this weekend, I hope the sun will last for a while. It's a nice change from sweaters.

These cat blocks have been so much fun, I think this one will be quilted and bound without any more borders.
I had so much fun making more cats for the fall, the inner pieced border was some scraps leftover from another quilt.

I hope you are enjoying a more relaxing time. Happy Quilting!

It Finally Arrived!

I was beginning to think this package was never going to arrive. I ordered a few things from Sharon at Daisy Cottage just before the postal strike and it took just over a month to get my goodies. Isn't the packaging so pretty, it was almost like Christmas in July.

Unwrapping my goodies was fun especially since I forgot what I ordered. Sharon never fails to make my purchase special....Thanks so much Sharon! She is so sweet and shopping at Daisy Cottage is always a good experience, I only wish I could buy EVERYTHING. Her kits are awesome, I've signed up for the monthly mini.....I can't wait to get my first one. I hope the next package will be much quicker.

Strawberry or Watermelon?

When I finished making this bag and stood back to look at it, the first thing I thought was it looked like a watermelon. I can't resist making bags and this one reminds me of everything I love about summer.....fresh strawberries and juicy watermelon.

I didn't like the way the ends were flapping about so I added a little detail to keep it tucked in.

Here is the pattern I used, I omitted the stitchery and put in a focus fabric. This made the bag much faster to make. For now it's on display at the quilt shop I work at, visit Creative Edge in N. Van if you'd like to see it in person.

What do you get when you have a curious cat and a clueless painter? I would have thought the painter would have noticed a cat looking at him thought the windows.....because Boo is so curious, he has to see what's going on outside. The painter opened the window and painted the sill, then decided it was lunch time and didn't close the window. I walked into the front room to see cute little cat prints all over my 100 year old wood floor. Boo likes to get into everything. In my panic I didn't think to take pictures....the prints were really very cute. The good news is the paint came off the floor no problem, but Boo has to let most of the paint wear off his paws.

Max and Whiskers

Lil Twister table topper using Max and Whiskers fabrics is quilted. This will be on display at the quilt shop I work at for a while before coming home. It's 28"x32", nice size for a table.

I love the polka dot binding.

This weekend I also made some Strawberry/Rhubarb jam, the local strawberry's are just about done for the season. Usually I forget and miss out on making jam, so this is my first attempt.....I hope it's good. I also frozen some for strawberry crepes on the weekends....yumo!

Happy Quilting.

Pom Pom de Paris

Quilt top is finished. I used 3 charm packs and white yardage, I also needed to add a bit more red because the charm packs didn't have enough. These blocks are all done by making a square in a square block. The quilt came out to 56"x65, a nice lap size.

The painters have been sanding for 2 days now, it sounds like a swarm of bees around the house with all the sanders outside. And with all the dust I can't keep the windows open in this warm weather. I'm hoping the quiet painting will start soon.

Happy Quilting!
