Flower Sugar Quilt

Flower Sugar quilt is officially now a flimsy. I think the piano key border took me as long as piecing the top. I'm very happy with how it turned out, not as much contrast as I hoped but it's the fabrics we love anyway.... right? The binding will be the same red as the inner border. I used the pattern from Schnibbles book and the quit is the bigger version of the bow tie quilt called Bennington and it's 63x63. I bought 15 FQ's and 1 yard of the red and I'm only left with scraps, pretty good for not having a plan when I purchased the fabric.
The fall maple leaf runner is pieced and I'm hoping to have that quilt soon.
Have a good weekend.

Summer Quilt and Fall Table Runner

I had big plans to have this quilt finished by now. Things happened and so the quilt didn't get done. I've got all the blocks pieced and now ready for putting it all together. I just love this fabric (Flower Sugar), I found it on Daisy Cottage Quilting site and just had to have some. I'm using the pattern from Schnibbles book called Bennington (below), the large version, it goes quickly with the big blocks. It's a very happy summery quilt.

And then I'm also thinking of fall, it's coming soon. I love the fall colours. A friend and I are making this together for another dear friend and we both love it so much we decided to make one for ourselves. The maple leaf block came from this site, it's block 4 of a bigger quilt.
I have big plans to get both of these projects done very soon, wish me luck.
Happy Quilting.

Friendship Triangles and Quilt Show

I've finished the borders on my HST quilt I showed in the last post. I didn't want the borders to overcome the quilt and take away from the center piecing so I picked this paisley fabric that had all the colours from the center. The pattern is from the Laundry Basket book, it's the one on the front cover and the books is called Friendship Triangles. As well this is my first mitered border....I don't do miters but this quilt really needed it. Now it's ready for quilting.....woohoo.....it's finished. I can now move on to something completely different and not the type of fabrics I usually buy.
Close up miter. It's done and I'm so very happy.
A few photo's of the local Car Show and Quilt Walk.....sorry no pictures of cars....just quilts.
Cute ducks.
For the cat lover, it's an older one but I thought it was done so well.
This snowman quilt is all done in wool appliqued on flannel background. The picture doesn't do it justice, she has embellished with beads, buttons and embroidery. It's all done so beautifully and with just the right details added to each block.

Happy Quilting, I'll be back with a new quilt very soon. Enjoy the dog days of summer.

Slow Progress

All these HST's and I'm not done yet, the borders still need to be added. It's been a slow process of making 420 HST's because it's sooooo boring trimming and sewing these together and right now as you see it the quilt is only 45"......just call me crazy, I don't know what I was thinking when I started making this but I persevered and got it done.....whew....glad that part is finished. I think it will be a nice quilt when the borders are added, I still need to decide what the border fabric will be. I'll be back soon to show you what I decided.
This weekend is the local Car Show and Quilt Walk in Ladner BC. I hope to get some good pictures to show next week.

Happy Quilting,

Block One

I just realized I hadn't posted the new improved version of Block One of Ruby's Garden, the other blocks can be see here and here. The one on the right is using the floss colours listed on the pattern and the one on the left is the colours I substituted. It must be the background fabric I'm using because some of the colours are not showing well. All the other blocks I've been using the colours listed and it's worked fine, just not this one.

Enjoy the summer and I hope you have time for stitching.

Ruby's Garden

Two more blocks all stitched up, blocks 5 and 6 of Ruby's Garden by Waltzing With Bears are finished. These are fun to make and stitch up pretty quick. I'm half done on the Block 1 I didn't like, if you are following along you'll remember I didn't like the first block and I'm redoing it.
Lula was watching me from across the room sewing on my binding, she decided to join me and sit right on the spot I was about to stitch.Cats and quilts just seam to go together, I didn't have the heart to move her.
