Little Purse

The little hexagon purse is finished, you can see I started it here. I didn't want to cover up the hexagon's with the stitchery so I made another purse with one piece of fabric and added the stitchery, it says "Happiness is: a Little Stitching Each Day".

A better view of the stitchery, you can see by the rotary cutter how small these really are, I was surprised when I finally read the pattern, the finished size is 3"x6".

I hope you get a little time for stitching too.

Roll Roll, Cotton Boll

TA-DA......It's FINISHED.....I would say, definitely not a beginner quilt. It took me a bit of going back and forth figuring out how many blocks are in the border. I admire those that persisted and made the bigger version, mine is large enough for me, I think about 56 x 74.

Whew....it sure feels good to have this one completed. What's next? I'm sure there are lots of things waiting in my sewing room that I've forgot about.

Happy Quilting.

Surprises

This week I received a very thoughtful gift from Darlene. We have shared a few block swaps over the 4 years I've been blogging. I meet Darlene almost immediately when I took the plunge and decided to blog, we hit it off right away and I've enjoyed many emails from her. I hope someday we'll have the opportunity to meet up face to face.

The wrapping  is so lovely, I wanted to enjoy it a little longer.

This wonderful banner was nicely tucked inside. Darlene you are the sweetest and I've enjoyed our friendship over the years. She knows me well and that the black will fit perfectly in my house. My sewing room looks awesome with this gorgeous banner.

Something else came in the same package. The latest book by Kim Scrap-Basket Sensations, I've even picked out some fabric to start a project. This was an extra special gift from Kim, Darlene, Mary and Karen, they all signed the book. Thank You ladies I will definitely enjoy using this book a lot.

I've finished my hexagon purse and just need to get a picture.
Enjoy your day and happy quilting.

Local Quilt Show

Not many pictures of the show, I was too busy socializing and working the booth. It was a fun day and nice to see some friends I hadn't seen for a long time. I do wish I had gone back and taken more pictures. This small wallhanging was made by one of the ladies in my stitching group......can you believe the centre flowers are a paper napkin.....yes she takes any paper napkin and makes something so beautiful.

Little quilts are my favourite.

Another little quilt from Jo's club.

Doesn't this flower just jump right out at you, maybe the photo is not the best but Wow in person the flower hopped right off the quilt. It was amazing! That's it for today.

Happy Quilting.

My signature block (forgot to take a picture, I was playing with other colour combinations) is on it's way to Australia to be made into a raffle quilt for Breast Cancer Research. It only takes a few minutes to make one and it's for a good cause, Linda from Quilts In The Barn raised over 10,000 last year. You still have time, the deadline to mail is Monday May 18th.
The borders are coming along nicely, I still need to cut and add more squares.

Something else I've been working on is hexagons for a little purse. These are 3/4" hexagons, boy are they tiny. I have them all connected and ready to start the purse. Another thing I've got to finish are the churn dash blocks for a swap. One more month and I can start making the quilt. Haven't decided what the setting will be yet.....I'm open to ideas, the blocks are 6" finished and done in civil war and shirting fabrics.

Off to see a quilt show today and working the booth.  Happy Quilting!

Roll Roll, Cotton Boll

I had a wonderful Mother's Day with strawberry crepes for breakfast, beautiful roses from my daughter and lots of time to sew. I sewed all weekend, some of you might remember I made these blocks here, This weekend was working on the alternate block for Bonnie's mystery quilt. So much more piecing than I expected and I didn't do Bonnie's method of sewing on paper. I'm soooo glad I decided right from the start not to make the big version. And guess what...... It's not over yet, I still have to piece and add the outer border.
I'm very happy with how this quilt is looking so far, I never would have put this colour combination together on my own.

Happy Quilting.

Spring is Here!

It's been a long cold April, and now May has arrived with warmer days and it actually feels more like spring. I might even be able to put my tomato plants outside and get them out of the kitchen. I made this cosmetic bag using a freebie stitchery from Bird Brain Designs. I think it's perfect for taking on a summer vacation, now I just need to have a place to go.
My daughter brought me these lovely flowers for Easter, I couldn't put them out because it was too cold at night, I can now enjoy them on the front porch.
Do you think Boo wants in? He loves being outside all day but just likes to check on me....I'm still here Boo.

Quilt Show

A local guild is having a quilt show this weekend, here are a few highlights of the show. For those that live local, today is the last day to see these quilts. And the merchant mall was great, I found some treasures.
This art quilt was much better in person.
A close up.
Another close up of details.
I didn't get the entire wallhanging, there was three of these fish.
Beautiful Dear Jane quilt.
This is another art quilt done with the same teacher.
Aren't they adorable.
Wool on black flannel.....loved this one.
Little hexagon Quilt.
This is a pretty neat illusion.

We finally got sun this weekend, it sure feels good to be a little warmer.....yippee....lets hope it lasts.
Happy Quilting.
