Distractions

We've been having our roof on the house replaced this week, I find it difficult to concentrate with all the noise going on over head. It's very distracting to try and do anything, sounds like they are coming through the roof. The cats don't know what to do except curl up and hope the noise will stop.  The roof should be all finished up today......yippee..... I've had enough already, make it stop.

I went sewing at a friends and got most of the blocks for this table topper finished and when it was quiet in the evening I got it all pieced. It's going to be for the patio table. I did the split 9-patch blocks with 3 fabrics, the binding will be the lipstick red......my favourite red fabric.

The Mary Engelbreit fabric is so cheerful for a summer table setting. I didn't plan this project or figure out how much fabric I needed, just started cutting and hoped for the best, I had exactly the right amount of the yellow for the blocks and not one extra piece to spare.....whew.

Perfect for a summer table topper quilt! Fortunately the roofers came to our house while I was at work, but today they are working next door. I'm sure that is not as noisey as being inside the house and hearing them on the roof...hope you are getting some peace and quiet soon.

Adorable! That is my favorite way of sewing/playing ...just figuring it out as you go along and going with the flow!

Cute table-topper. And kitty, too!

That was lucky that you had just enough yellow fabric. I love that ME fabric. It is very summery, your cat seems to like it too.

I know what you mean about the noise. The roofers came to our house on the day that I had 10 sewing friends over for a sew-in - what a day - but we did have a lot of fun - and sometimes out-noised the builders.

Love the table topper - I need to think of something for our new deck - which should be finished today.

LOVE that yellow fabric just so happy!
I hated when we replaced our roof a few years ago
I know what your saying!
I will never stay home again during that if I ever have to replace another roof!

We had our roof replaced this year too. I found myself working (and thinking) in rhythm with the hammering. It was crazy!!! The good news is, now all my tupperware is back in my kitchen where it belongs, and is no longer in the attic catching leaks! Ha!

I dearly love yellow, so I think this latest topper is super sweet. Crisp and fresh looking for summer!

Yes, the noise and the mess that come with roof repairs can definitely be very frustrating. But it’s definitely worth it if it means that the roofers are doing the best that they can. A strong and sturdy roof is your first line of defense against the elements, after all.

Aww, your poor kitties! I know what that’s like! I’ve been having repairs done to my roof this past week, and the noise has been driving my pet dogs crazy! I know it’ll all be worth it in the end though, since I’ll have a stronger roof to protect them after it’s all said and done.
