Little Quilt and Gifts

Kathie had the sweetest quilt kit giveaway on her blog. I was so envious of all the lucky recipients, I decided to make my own version of this homespun quilt. I don't have many of the neutral homespun's which are really needed for Kathie's version of this quilt, so I changed it to reproductions and here is what I came up with. I'm very happy with this little quilt.
My daughter was hinting at getting a knitting bag for Christmas. She has only learned to knit in the last month and is very excited about it. She saw the skull fabric and loved it, I picked the other fabrics and this is the bag I made for her. I know she's going to really like it. The bag says "bad luck club". Not my taste in fabrics but she'll be thrilled.

I also made pillow cases for each of my girls and one for youngest daughters boyfriend. This is the first time I've made these and no pattern, I can't believe how fast and easy these are. I'm sure there will be more in the future. The plaids are super soft flannel.

I have so much to do before Christmas, still shopping to be done and grocery shopping as well. I guess it's power shopping for me this week because I'm working all day Mon and Tue before Christmas.....arrggg.

Happy Holidays!

I love your little quilt...and it is lovely with the different fabrics.....I guess making do with what you have is one of the basics of quilting.....and it makes it your own - good luck with the shopping....we are going to finish ours on Monday...the shops will be busy but I have a list ...LOL....which of course makes all the queues just disappear...NOT....oh well....it will be the first day of my holidays so will have time.....but will I have the patience? I am sure I will......I have dedicated this Christmas as a stress free event....so far so good!

Your stars came out delightful - great fabric choices.
That skull bag is too much . . . . as long as we can get those girls doing crafties, they can carry it in whatever makes them happy - you are a smart mom *s*

I love the little quilt! That bag automatically made me think of my daughter. It is just her style too. She would love the skull fabric too. I am with you not my style either. The pillow cases are great. I have a terrific pattern I can send you via e-mail if you would like. It has no open seams on the inside so when the pillowcases are washed they don't fray at all. It takes about 20 minutes to whip up.

Its all done in repro's and was my inspiration one day when I wanted to make a little quilt in plaids!
I am glad you got to make one, aren't they fun and so easy!!!!
Love the pillowcases, great fabrics.
The bag is going to be great for her and so nice of you to make what she will like.

Oh my gosh Wendy it turned out fantastic! Good job and I like the repros too! Excellent fuzzy pillowcases...are they flannel? They look good but I'd never be able to sleep with one, I like the cold pillow. I turn mine all night looking for the cold side!

You've been a busy bee! What a cute quilt and the bag, I know she'll love it! I've never made pillow cases. I do have a pattern that was given to me on my trip to PA. I should give it a try! Thanks for sharing! Hugs!

What a darling quilt, Wendy! Nice bag, but what is it with skulls? I've seen a lot of this with young folks, lately - I must be back in the dark ages, hee, hee!
Happy Shopping!
Cheers!

Love the little quilt Wendy - it's adorable. That knitting bag is a hoot and I'm sure it will be a big hit with your daughter. Pillow cases are such a fun little extra gift and your right they are so easy to make. Now how is the pit in your stomach with all of the holiday prep to get done. Mine is getting better. I'm either getting caught up or letting it go, LOL.

Hugs - Karen

Comfy and cozy pillow cases - wonderful!

Very cute knitting bag that your DD will love and enjoy!

I love your Kathie inspired quilt. I wouldn't be able to make it with plaids either as I don't have a good assortment. Yours is perfect and so YOU. Great idea, Wendy.
