Aloha Home Again

It's taking me a few days to get back in the swing of things.....not :-). It sure was wonderful to be out of the rain and cold for a whole week. We had a fantastic time in Kauai soaking up the sun and playing in the ocean, the snorkeling was great and we could just walk to the beach. We stayed in the Southern part of Kauai called Poipu, I'm already planning to go back again.
A local botanical garden gift shop had a couple of Hawaiian quilts on the wall, don't know if there were for sale or not, I didn't look. Could you imagine doing all the needleturn applique.
The gardens were absolutely beautiful, I was amazed at how the orchids could grow outside in between the lava rocks with there ever so delicate looking flowers.

Now back home and I still haven't sorted out what projects I was working on before going away, my head is still somewhere on the beach in Kauai.

Welcome home. I love the quilts. Especially the pineapple quilt. Love the green and yellow. It has the look of an antique quilt.

And, it's interesting that orchids grow like that when I couldn't keep one alive to save my life. :)

Glad you had fun! I went there for my brother's wedding almost 20 years ago but didn't pay attention to the quilts at the time. AND I went with my mother instead of DH. I'm sure you had a lot more fun than I did!!

Gald that you had a good vacation, thats for sharing the photos of the quilts you saw. I love when I see a quilt somewhere I'm not expecting to see one.

What a wonderful vacation. I like the pineapple quilt. Did it rain while you were there? We went to Kauai once and I think it rains a lot there. Did you like scuba diving?

Welcome back, Wendy.

I'm sure it's going to take you a while to get your feet back on the ground after your Hawaiian vacation. *sigh* Should I feel sorry for you? NOT!!! *wink*

Love those quilts!

Welcome back home! I used to live in Oahu right after came to the U.S. years ago and traveled all over among the neighbor island there. I learned Hawaiian Quilt as well, but didn't quite get comfortable with needleturn applique at all, and still now. lol

What a lovely way to spend a week. Especially since we've had nothing but rain and wind here in B.C. Those Hawaiian quilts are so beautiful, but they require a lot of time and patience to complete. Not for me, I'm afraid. I like to get things done quickly so I can move on to the next project.

Oh isn't Kauai wonderful! I know just where you stayed. Years ago when we went that area was still rebuilding from the hurricane they had had several years before. Oh man, you make me want to go just chill again!
