Building Going On

This last couple of weeks have been hectic with construction guys tearing apart our front steps and putting in new foundation. This little guy was busy last night making a web next to my computer, he's pretty little so I didn't mind get rid of him. Any bigger spiders I'd be screaming and I mean screaming for hubby to come and remove it....I don't like spiders in the house especially those big black ones....eek, they belong outside as far as I'm concerned....
The front stairs were looking pretty shabby, with the wood rotting away. They really did need to be replaced. It was hard for me to see them go.
Hubby's out there doing the inspection, making sure those construction guys are doing the job right. You have to keep a close watch on them I tell yah....make sure they are working and not goofing off. Stairs are completely torn out.
Look at how beautiful the new steps look, the construction part is done. Guess what I'll be doing this weekend.... painting of course. The stairs will need three different colours. The railings are black, the posts are a cream colour and the steps are a burgandy red. It's going to be hot this weekend but we have to get the painting done before the rain starts again....which could happen any day.
I finished this little sewing bird pillow yesterday. I made my own changes to the pattern and enlarged it to be 6" square. The pattern is from Artful Additions CD by Kathy Schmitz, you can find it here.

Have a great week!

The steps are looking good although I don't envy you that painting job. I just hate to paint and usually get as much on me as whatever it is I am painting.

Your stitchery is just marvelous. I really like the look of black and will have to try that. Looks like a pen and ink drawing.

Good luck with the painting!

I hate building work (as we are constantly in the midst of it!), but it is worth it in the end and your new steps look great. That is a really pretty cushion too!

Wendy those front steps look wonderful and the front of your house is adorable. You should take us for a little stroll outside around your beautiful house :). Ohhhhh I like that pillow - I had to drag out the C/D and check it out, LOL. NO MORE PROJECTS - I need to finish up a few, LOL.

Hugs - Karen

Painting...."sigh".....I too have painting ahead of me. My son will be leaving on Saturday for college so his room will be turned into a guest room. The blue walls must be painted for something a bit more ME. I'm sure you'll update us with photos and like Karen...I like your house!! Too CA-UTE!!!

Isn't that weird, my monitor makes the color look like the loveliest purple! We will be painting too, but gladly inside! Yikes, stays cool and work quickly. They look ready for another long run of use!

Love the pillow! It's just fabulous!

Your new stairs are going to be wonderful . . . but I'm right there with you - I'd be so sad to see the old ones go. Why is it so hard for me to let things go? *s* Your little sewing bird is just darling.

The new steps look very strong and sturdy, and a very good replica of the old ones. They'll look beautiful when painted.
The embroidery is lovely, the black is so effective and it's such a nice design. It was a good idea to enlarge the pattern.

Lovely new stairs! It's nice that you keep with the period when you renovate. We do the same thing. Lovely pillow! You're so good turning a stitchery into something. Mine are still sitting around! Keep well! Hugs!

Darling pillow. My sympathies with the construction. We had our kitchen redone 3 years ago. All I did was clean up dust for days and days.
