Cupcake
Look what I received in the mail yesterday. I was so excited about getting a package. I opened it up to find fabric, rick rack, buttons, trim, flower and a paper mache cup. This pincushion is called "Cupcake Pinkeep" by Blackbird Designs. What a sweet name I had to start on it right away. This is my 5th BOM pincushion but it will be the second one I've done...if I finish it. From reading the directions there is painting and gluing to be done on the cup. I hope I can make my look as sweet as a cupcake.
Here is the block that will be the top of the pincushion, can you see the star in the centre?. I couldn't believe I made 1" finished half square triangles (the blocks is 6" finished). If I had thought about it longer I might not have made such a fiddly block but it's done now and I only needed to make one. Next I need to cut a circle with a small plate to gather and form the top of the cup cake. I hope it turns out when I'm done.

I love gettting quilty things in the mail. I did not know that they had a pincushion bom. I may just have to check it out. LOL. Thank for stopping by my blog. I like the way the blcok looks it will be fun to cut it up.
What a neat idea - a pincushion BOM. Where did you find that product? I like the block for this pincushion. I can't wait to see the finished pin cushion.
I've been receiving the monthly pin cushions also but sadly I have not made one. This one has me intrigued.
I love what you did with the Chocolat charm packs. I have a ton of charm packs and if you don't mind I'd like to mimic your idea?!?!?!? Please!
BTW, I love your style of quilts!
Wishing you a very Happy Valentine's Day!
I couldn't respond to your e-mail, I'm sorry to post a response here. :-) As soon as I finished reading your blog I started sorting through my stacks of charm packs to make a charm quilt like yours. I love it. I have several packs of Chocolat and others. HMMMMM - thinking, thinking, thinking. LOL
What a fun monthly project. I like that it can be finished in the month -- I seem to lose interest in BOM's waiting for the quilt to be complete. I will definitely check kout this plan.
I'm doing this monthly pin cushion club also. I did the one from Country Threads and love it. Can't wait to see this cupcake. Happy Valentines Day!
I went to the Buggybarn site and was able to see the cupcake pincushion. It really is cute. Good luck with it.
Where do you order your wool online from?
I tried to email a response to the comment you left on my blog but your email doesn't come across (it says noreply@....) Anyway, thanks for visiting and leaving a comment.
