Table Topper

This table topper is all scraps of 5" squares and the pattern is from the Nickel Quilt book. The top without borders is 32" square. I haven't decided if or what I might add for borders. Sometimes I like quilts without borders and maybe this quilt will not have one.

When I was making this yesterday, I had a light bulb moment. Wouldn't this look great using charm squares? To make this size you'll only need 32 darks and 32 lights, sounds easy enough. The book has many patterns all done with 5" squares. I just might have to make more. So many ideas and never enough time.

Looks great! I love those two books. Still haven't made a quilt from them though.

That would be a good charm squares quilt. I could put that on my list :)) Might need to buy the book.

I so understand the problem! There are not enough minutes/hours left in my lifetime to finish the ideas I have gathered up to now...let alone the ideas still to come!

Love it, just love it. My sort of colours too. Will have to ask the local library if they can get the book in for me, sounds like an interesting one.

It's wonderful and you're right it would be great done in 5" charms. I vote for no border!

OOOO I like this idea! I have some charms I got in Paducah - I have to haul them out and see if there are enough lights! I like it!

Wow - it looks great. You are so right - there's a lot of fun things to be done with those charm packs. Hmmmm, I have a little collection gathering. What can I do with them?

I would love to see that quilt in Peas & Carrots or even Roman Holiday! I realy like the way you layed out these fabrics. It is so scrappy! Why not do a 5inch square scrappy border on it? Or no border but do scrappy binding.

Wendy, you gave me such a fantastic idea when you mentioned the Nickel Quilts book! I have recently bought some charm squares and jelly rolls, and have been mulling ideas around in my head as to how to use them. I can't wait to get home and dive into that book!
