Lost Redwork

I was looking through some bins of fabric, not sure what I was looking for at the time. I came across this sweet red check fabric and instantly remembered I was saving that "special piece" for a redwork project I started long time ago. I'm embarrassed to say how long it's been since I started this stitchery. I knew just were the redwork blocks were hiding and quickly grabbed them to put with the red check. I had three and a half blocks completed when I stopped stitching and put it away. Oops...looks like I should have ironed the fabric before taking the picture. There are a total of 6 redwork blocks in this small quilt. I think it's time to finish this puppy...don't you think...lol. The pattern is from Blackbird Designs called "Samples from the Past" part 2. That might give you a hint of how old.

I've done a little prep-work on my Birds of a Feather. I might have 2 blocks to show after the weekend. Wish me luck.

Thanks for dropping by and reading my blog. I hope you'll visit again soon.

I love redwork and your blocks are beautiful. I can't wait to see it all finished. I know how it is with UFO's, they become out of sight, out of mind. Terry

I recognised those blocks straightaway, because that pattern is one I often thought about making, but unlike you I never got round to it:) I think it's a lovely pattern and will be a gorgeous quilt.

That red check is going to be perfect with those blocks. I've bought some patterns to do some redwork blocks....but I'm not letting myself start them until I have the other 2 quilts I'm working on finished! Too many UFO's to start another project.

Wendy that checked fabric is going to look so sweet with your redwork project, great choice.

I think it's always such a great feeling to finish up something from the past.

Hugs - karen

You're not going to believe this... I have that EXACT same fabric awaiting redwork blocks that I have done; I bought it for the sashing between the blocks a long, long time ago! I will break it out and post it on my blog this week so that you can see. Considering the fact I was drooling over your strawberry pincushion and then learned I HAD the pattern in a book already, I'd say we have a lot in common! Are you my long lost sister? ;)

Hi,
I am new to your blog and
your blocks are beautiful! I haven't done much embroidery lately but hope to get back into it.
I also have grown children (3) & 11 grandchildren!
Do you know any shop or person in Canada that sells Samples from the Past? I would dearly love to make the quilt but can't find the booklets anywhere.
Sure would appreciate any help on that.
Keep stitching along!
