I thought I would show a little bit of something else I've been doing lately. Do you remember my ladybug quilt here? It's all quilted and I'm just loving this quilting design with it's funky curves and curls. I've started another quilt with this same design. I think I will get a lot of use out of this one for sure.
It's been a learning process for me and I'm really enjoying how much fun machine quilting can be. I have a couple more stitchery blocks done and will get a picture of those soon. We've had the most wonderful weather here, not too hot in the mid 20's. My tomatoes are growing, I have lots of round green things showing up......boy do those guys need lots of water.
I hope you are enjoying the summer.

Kitchen Progress and a Little Sewing
Last week we had the counter tops installed, with two strong guys the granite went it. They had to do some grinding of the granite to get it to fit the uneven walls and cabinets. The following day was the install of kitchen sink, I never would have thought it could take 3 hours to install a sink but when I looked under the cupboard and saw the construction they did to hold the sink in place I was amazed. Next step is the back splash tiling. I still need to decide what to put there and then finish up painting. The wainscoting you can see in front of the island needs paint as well as the box with the microwave.
I did a little sewing, the bottom polka dots is a plastic. I didn't have a plan when I started making the bag, only that I had a small piece of plastic left over from a friend who made cushions for her patio. I just knew somehow I was going to make a bag from it and this is what came out. I did more stitching on the Ruby's Garden but nothing finished to show yet.
We are having gorgeous weather with sun but not too hot, prefect for sitting out on the deck.

Heat Wave
We are just coming out of our first heat wave of the year. To think we needed to wear jackets and long pants only a week ago. I don't do well with the heat and we don't have air conditioning in our house. I did a little stitching because it requires mostly sitting with a tall glass of iced tea. The first 2 blocks I had done prior to the heat wave.
These are the two blocks completed in the last week during the heat wave. The pattern is from Waltzing With Bears, really sweet and quick blocks called Ruby's Garden. The quilt pattern doesn't show the blocks will, in fact in looks like a really boring and dull quilt.
This is block one and I don't like how it turned out. I'm definitely redoing this block. It might be partly the darker background I used but what I don't like the most is the shade of green and the blue stars in the border. All the other blocks are turning out wonderful. The ecru also doesn't show with my background fabric and so I'll change that colour as well.
So tell us what you do when the heat is too much. What do you do in a heat wave?
Happy Stitching.

Little Things
In between messing around with the kitchen reno's, I've managed to make a couple of little gifts. These little zippy wallets have gone to their new owners. They are fun to make, sorry I can't remember the blog I found these on, I made a few little changes to my version.
And this little summer purse I made for a quilt shop sample. The pattern is all about how it's folded. There is a pocket on either side for keys and cell phone and a snap on the inside center pocket to carry your wallet. You can find the pattern here. I'm so pleased with how this turned out.
Hopefully I can get back to visit all you bloggers very soon.
Happy Quilting.
