Fall decorating

I love this time of year when the leaves change to fall colours and the pumpkins come out. Here is a little fall decorating around my house. The Boo blocks I bought at Folktales in Lynden, Wash. This shop is a must see if you are in the area.
The pumpkin and crow quilt is from Need'l Love book called Autumn Threads. It's on the front cover.
I made the witch a few years ago, it's from a pattern by Threads That Bind. A friend gave me the framed picture of the witches boots, she did the drawing. I love them both together.

Happy Halloween.

Moda Love Finished Quilt

The borders are added, quilted and ready for gift giving. It's a queen size quilt and will be a gift for my daughter, haven't decided if it will be Christmas gift or birthday. The free pattern is from Moda and they've included 3 sizes using pre-cuts. This was a very quick quilt to make and I'm happy with how it turned out.
The second little quilt in the Simple Whatnots club, I've sewed the flying geese on the sides, just not in this picture.
A little fall decorating, my favourite time of year. This is hanging just inside the front door.

Happy Autumn!

Countryside Quilters Show

This quilt went together very fast using a layercake. The pattern is free and called Moda Love. I'm going to add a small inner border and then a 4" outer border. My oldest daughter will love this quilt.
The Countryside Quilt Show was a big success. More people came to see the quilts than we ever imagined. Our little group of 27 members showed over 400 quilts of our work. There is a VIDEO if you want to see a portion of the show. The bed turning had a big turn out for each time slot we offered, You'll see the bed turning in the video.
Time for some fall decorating. I love this little wool wallhanging from my secret sister at Countryside Quilters. I might see how this looks on my old widow display.

Happy Quilting.

Rudy's Garden and bits of Fall

I'm finishing up the top for Ruby's Garden stitcheries quilt. The red will be the inner border and I need to decide on the outer border and binding. I'm thinking for the outer border something in a navy blue. I'll need to go shopping for that soon....woohoo I'm excited.
I've pulled out a few of my favourite fall decorations. I made the witch a couple of years ago. She sits in my front hall with her broom and black cat under her arm.
The wool pumpkins are also from a couple years ago. The wooden blocks they are sitting on I purchased from Folktales.
The pumpkin girl I also bought. She came home with me from the Lynden Craft and Antique Show last year. The quilt I made at least 8 or more years ago.

I'm working on the next block for Le Jardin applique, I'm enjoying these blocks with the French General fabrics. Back soon with some progress.

Happy Quilting.

Welcome Autumn

The last day of summer I was wearing my shorts and sandals and the first day of fall came the rain and cold. Thankfully the sun has been coming out each day since. I love the cooler days and the leaves changing colours. It's my favourite time of year.

I finished piecing my spools quilt, I started this last spring. It's nice to have this one off my list and ready for quilting.
I'm still working on the Le Jardin blocks, this is the third block. Don't know if you can see I still have a few more leaves to sew down.
This is the beach on the first day of fall, we had a break in the rain and decided to get out for a little walk. It was so windy that day we couldn't stay for long.

Happy Quilting.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends. I've made the cranberry sauce, my daughter is making the pumpkin pie today and soon the house will smell of delicious turkey.

A cute fabric pumpkin I made yesterday to decorate the table for fall. Thank you Linda for the kit and pattern to make this adorable pumpkin.....I love it!

Have a wonderful turkey day!

Playing Catch Up

A few of you asked what I purchased on my LA shopping trip. Some patterns I had my eye on and so had to snap those up. The Eiffel Tower quilt pattern was an impulse buy, since I had just vacationed in Paris last spring, I have to make that quilt....very soon I hope.
I was looking for Halloween fabrics and bought a few pieces. Mostly I wanted reproduction fabrics as our local shops don't carry much if any of these type of fabrics.
Look what found it's way to my mail box....oops I just realized I forgot to include the sweet label that came with the scissor fob. Darlene (Quilting Daze) is a very thoughtful friend and thinks of all the details, do you see the charm that says "made for you", I put this fob on my stork scissors I bought in Portugal. I also noticed the flower is very similar to the Portuguese flowers I have in my garden. Thanks Darlene, I will think of you when I reach for my scissors.
I've had fall decorating on my mind lately. I bought this little kit last year and didn't get to making it, so I wanted to make sure I had this finished this in plenty of time to enjoy the season. I love fall and all it's colours. More fall decorating to come.

Happy Quilting.
