Paris Patchwork

We found it, doesn't look like much from the outside. A quilt shop in Paris or what it's called by the locals is Patchwork Shop. The owner is a very nice lady and has a good website, the shop is called LeRouvrey.

Inside the shop is beautiful with handmade quilts. Due to space in a Paris apartment the patchwork is all done by hand, both piecing and quilting. The employee at the shop told us about the Dear Jane she had just finished hand piecing and hand quilted, unfortunately she didn't have it at the shop for us to see.

The shop is tiny but with lots of antique quilts to see. The most popular fabrics here are the reproductions.

The Tree of Life quilt is antique and so fabulous to see in person.

The shop sold other goods as well, some glass and other trinkets. The owner has her own fabric line called Romance de Paris which is gorgeous. I bought a few FQ's and 1/2 meters. I'll show the bits I bought in a later post. It's not looking good that I will find any quilting in Rome, my internet searches are coming up with nothing in the city anyway.

Paris!

I know this is a quilting blog but no sewing going on for me right now. We are in Paris for a week and I thought I'd show a few pictures of this beautiful place anyway. We went to see Mona at the Louvre, this was as close as we could get to her. There is always a crowd and it's roped off so you can't get too close to her and this is using the zoom on my camera.

The entrance to the Louvre is under the pyramid. It's a huge museum and we could not see it all in one day.

Inside the court yard of the Louvre is filled with sculptures from Roman and Egyptian times.

I don't know what this lady did during her life, I'm guessing this scupture was a reminder to others of what not to do or this will happen to you....very tough times I'd say.

So you won't see any quilting updates for the next couple of weeks, I might be able to show a few more pictures of our travels in Paris and Rome as time permits and internet connections are available.

Finishes

I bought this kit last year from Daisy Cottage and never made it, then I won the same kit from her website, so ended up with two. I was going to make one bigger quilt but when I did all the blocks I didn't like how it looked with so many hearts. So I put this together as per Sharon's pattern instructed and I'm so tickled I have it ready for Valentines.

This was a tablerunner I put together last year but didn't get around to quilting, so now I have a table runner ready for Feb as well. These are both very cheerful to have around this time of year. We've been getting lots of cold and snow lately, I hope it doesn't last long.

Mini Quilts

I almost forgot to show my 12 Days of Christmas sampler little quilt all finished. You can still make your own version at Temecula blog. This was a fun project to start the new year.

The other mini I've finished is one from Daisy Cottage, this one is even smaller, I think finishes at 10".

Boo is showing his approval of my sampler quilt, or should I say he's making sure his hair is on all my quilts.

12 Days of Christmas Blocks

All twelve 3 1/2" blocks are finished and waiting for today instructions to put it all together. This mystery sampler from Temecula has been really fun to make each day and it's been fun wondering what block will come next.

Lula is sitting in her favourite spot in my sewing room except she is usually facing towards the window watching the birds and squirrels in the back yard.

Gifts and BOM

I received a couple of wonderful gifts in the mail, this one is from Mary done in reds and greens. Mary does long arm quilting and it's fabulous! Thanks Mary for thinking of me, I love it!

The second wonderful gift is a stitchery from Sharon. This lady looks really busy with making everything handmade, reminds me of Sharon and how busy she is with her online shop, and don't forget to check out her blog.

The saying is prefect.

I'm up to date with my Generals Wives BOM, this is block one. I'm doing the red toile version, if you follow the link it's shown in blue. That's why my star is blue instead of red, do you follow? There will be lots of red in the setting blocks later on.

Here is block 2 finished, these blocks are 12" and very easy to complete, hopefully that means I can keep up. I'm also finished the first monthly mini for Jan from Daisy Cottage, I'll get a picture of that one soon.
