First Finish

Time to catch up on the first couple weeks of the year. My first finish for 2015, Candy Hearts is a flimsy. I had so much fun making these hearts, it will be ready for Feb, my favourite month.
It's a prefect size for the table.

And then I took a class taught by a good friend, as if I needed to start a new project. Log cabin blocks done in Red and White, haven't decided how big this quilt will be yet.
Still working on Fat Quarter Shop Mystery blocks. This is number 6, I have number 7 cut and ready for piecing. Block 8 will be arriving soon, I don't want to get behind on these.

Happy Quilting!

Simply Romantic Again

Well I haven't made any progress on my scrappy blocks I showed in my last post. I did get my romantic flimsy quilted. I did a pattern called Botanical Blossoms, it's one of my favourite.

The start of the week I had a class to teach on the heart runner I did here, I woke up that morning with a sore throat and running nose but it was to late to cancel so I went ahead and did the class. The class went well and some made very different versions with fabric choices. One runner was done in batiks, another in whites and green and a really cute one done with chicken fabrics....they had a great time playing with with these hearts. I changed the cutting from the first one I did to a easier version with 5" squares and 2 1/2" squares.

Tracy it's so cute. I hope you don't mind I posted this picture.

Getting a picture of the whole quilt is no easy task when you don't have the floor space, our house is charming but not so practical. The quilt is 61"x79", the binding is not in this picture but it's one of the blues.  The remainder of the week was sleeping, drinking lots of tea, working and at the end of the week I took a bag class, I can't wait to have this one finished, it's a purse size and really cute. Sew much to do, sew little time to get it all done.

Happy Quilting!

Hearts Galore

It's been a relaxing uneventful week. I started working on this heart table runner. Feb is not far off and that means Valentines. I love it when the reds, pinks and hearts come out this time of year or maybe I'm a little early.  In any case as least I'll be ready for Feb.

Not the greatest picture but you get the idea. The pattern is called Hearts Galore on this site. I'm going to add a stripe binding, should look sweet. I've started a little quilt with red and gingham pinwheels, I hope to have that finished soon.

Happy Quilting!

Over Flowing with Excitement

Yippee...wahoo....I was soooo very excited when I received an email yesterday from Sandy Berry of Berryvine Designs (scroll down the page) asking if she could have permission to post the Heather's Lacy Heart Quilt I made for Quiltopia in Maple Ridge, BC. Sandy is the designer of the quilt and it's featured on the front cover of her book. How exciting is that to have the designer like my version of her quilt and want to show it off. I feel over whelmed and honored at the same time... I'm speechless. When I first read the email I had to tell someone right away, so as it happens I had just received an email from Darlene that morning and so she was the first to hear my news, Darlene started dancing across the desert with excitement for me. Wasn't that sweet of her, I hope she sends me a picture. ;-)
