Dec Review

Time to catch up for the month of Dec. It's always harder when everything I'm making is a gift and I can't show for fear of giving it away. I almost finished the Wish Quilt, it didn't get quilted in time and I wasn't about to stress about it. There's always next year!
I did finish this little Cheri Payne pattern. I had so much fun making the trees, I made a smaller 12" hanging to fit the frame stands, that one was given as a gift and then I had to make one for myself as well as the bigger version.
Close up of the applique.
I stitched a few ornaments for friends, gave these with a bag of cookies.
Went to the Christmas Vintage Market, Totally forgot what I came home with, Should have bought the Noel sign...now regretting I didn't.
Baked a lot of cookies, ginger snaps are my favourite.
Sweet little gift from my friend Linda.
Love my little wool table mat from my friend Gillian.

Hope your Christmas was filled with love, laughter, family and friends.

See you in 2015!

Secret Projects

This isn't a secret project but one that I started a few years ago. I've brought out the Wish quilt AGAIN!. Maybe I can finally get it finished. This stitched block isn't officially part of the Wish quilt but it will be part of my version. The Wish Quilt is a free pattern from Red Brolly.
I made this into a 6" star block, I changed the stitchery in this block.
This little wallhanging is the first of two secret projects. I've given this to my Secret Sister, I should make a second one for me. Soon I can reveal the other project.

Happy Quilting!

Summer Quilt

This was a super fast and fun small quilt to make. I used mostly K. Fassett fabrics for the flowers. The pattern can be found on the Cloud 9 Fabrics free patterns page, it's called Amsterdam Quilt.
I'm making a Christmas gift for my daughter, I'm hoping this tablerunner will look good on her black table. I used Gigi's Thimble quilt pattern.
This little quilt was a gift from Mary at Quilt Hollow, we've done a few swaps and exchanged gifts over the years. I sure love this small quilt and Mary's quilting is always outstanding.

Happy Quilting.

Last Minute Gifts

I finished up these redwork ornaments for my girls, I left the edges raw and did a running stitch. I hope to make this a tradition of making something different for them each year. It's never too late to start a new tradition. Owls are very popular this year, I think they might like them.
Some progress on the Le Jardin block, Christmas has made it slow going right now. I think there are 3 more blocks to go.
Boo Boo is saying Merry Christmas!

Deck the Halls

I managed to get some decorating done this week, in between naps. I've had a awful cold and really only felt like sleeping most of the time. I'm feeling much better today. Snowmen and trees are my favourite, you'll see with more pictures below. The quilt I made a few years ago at Buggy Barn in a class with Cheri Payne.
The tablerunner I made last year and I bought the wooden snowman.
Gotta have a little tree in the kitchen. The snowman candlemat I made a few years ago.
This little tree and snowman are in the front entrance. The snowman was one of the first I've made. I like the bird on his hat.
What is it about boxes, cats love to claim empty boxes.
Got to get back to finishing Christmas gifts and a few more customer quilts.

Happy Quilting!

Starting to Redecorate

It's time for the all the pumpkin decorations to be packed up and stored away until next fall. I wish this was a better picture of my pumpkin quilt (it's much darker). The yellow stepping stool is a new purchase, I hope I can incorporate it in my Christmas decorating.
It's time to start bringing out the reds and greens. I'll be doing the Christmas decorating over the next couple of weeks, yes it takes me that long to get things where I want them.
I taught a class last week for this "Pocket to Go" organizer. The group of 5 ladies were very enthusiastic and completed the organizer by the end of the day, with the exception of hand sewing the binding. They all did so well with my scrambled brain instructing them.

Happy Quilting!

Vintage Holiday

I finished putting together the top last week using the Thimble Blossoms pattern. I changed the setting just a little with the added scrappy corner stone blocks for interest. This is something I've been working on for a BOM at the quilt shop where I work, it's called Creative Edge but sorry no website. The blocks are quick and fun to sew. I'm happy this will be ready in plenty of time for Christmas.
Cute ornament blocks. The snowman fabric adds a bit of whimsy.

Tree Ornaments

A few of my favourite handmade tree ornaments as requested by my friend Linda....Thanks Linda for all your encouragement......here they are on the tree.  The redwork ornaments I stitched last year from this tag pattern I found for free here.

I sewed some homespun on the back and added a little stuffing, a small piece of homespun and rusty bell at the top. You can see it better on the picture below.

Every year I make a couple new ornaments.

These wool ornaments are from a few years ago. I love them.

There are 2 more of these I didn't get a picture of.

Isn't this guy funny, the beard is made of buttons. I didn't make him, I got him in a ornament exchange at the guild. I never did find out who the maker was....it's one of my favourite as well.

Merry Christmas!

Wish Quilt

A quick post of my Wish Quilt progress. Santa is ready with his bag full of toys.  I'm not ready, I still have a few gifts to finish up. The tablerunner for my SIL is done, need to get a picture soon. I've also finished the free Kim Diehl snowman wallhanging, the pattern is here and the templates here. Gotta take a picture of that one too.

I've started on the next block, look at the quilts in the basket and on the chair. She is busy putting the last stitches on the stocking.  This is a free pattern, hop over to Red Brolly and check it out. She has other free patterns. I love them all.

Two stockings are completed for the kids at the Transition House.  Our group donated about 30 of these last year, I hope the stockings will put a smile on a childs face this Christmas.

Happy Stitching.

Christmas Quilt Finished

It's almost here! Are you ready? Are we ever really ready.....I'm not!
Almost finished......just a little hand sewing on the binding but I don't think it will happen in the next day or so and that's okay with me. You can find this pattern for free from Moda, it's called Flurry. I'm so very happy with how this turned out using the Grace fabrics.
A close up of the quilting. This quilt would also be great as a birthday gift using some fun and funky prints, just an idea.

I hope you enjoy lots of laughs with your family and friends on Christmas day.
Happy Holidays!

Christmas Quilt

Boo is giving his approval for my new Christmas quilt, I started this in Dec and it will be finished in Dec....woohoo what a big accomplishment for this time of year. It's all quilted and I'm now working slowly on the binding. I'm so glad this one is done, I love how it turned out.

Both cats take turns sleeping in the box next to the heater, sometimes they are on the mat in front of the heater but they seem to like the box much more.

Still need to do a little baking, gotta have the Ginger cookies ready for Christmas.
Happy Holidays.

More Decorating

Moving into the front hallway, a couple snowmen with stitchery pillow and the shaker boxes my husband made me a few years ago. The boxes are beautifully made and can be nested inside each other.

Now to the upstairs hallway, my newest snowman made of old barn wood. I love having the little trees with lights around the house. The tree wallhanging is a older project and has become my favourite.

I decided I needed a bit of Christmas decorating in the bathroom...why not enjoy it!

A closer view of the barn wood snowman. His arms and head are wired on to the body. Christmas decorating is soooo much fun. I'm really enjoying all the blogs showing their decorating around the house, keep it coming, I hope to see more.

Happy Holidays

Decorating

The decorating has started. I found this little tree at Micheal's for $5.00, I wasn't happy with the fabric covering the base so I changed it and added the lights, it looks really festive sitting on my kitchen counter. I stitched the mat using this pattern from Country Quilts. If you click to enlarge you can see the snowmen.

I mostly collect snowmen for decorating and will show more of them later. Oops I cut of the top of the feather tree. This little gathering is also in the kitchen.

The little wool tree shirt has three snowmen each holding something different.

I'll be working on getting out the remainder of the decorations this weekend. I bought a new snowman this year, he's made of old barn wood. More soon.

Happy Stitching.
