Quilt Bricks

IT'S DONE!!! I had a lot of fun making this quilt and I was amazed at how fast these blocks are to make, it gave me that much needed boost and I'm feeling much better. I used 4 charm packs and some yardage for the black and border. I didn't do the border the same way the pattern instructed, I wasn't keen on doing the piano key border, so instead I put a floral border on this quilt.

Happy Stitching and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Just a little reminder note that some of you are showing "no-reply" when you leave a comment. This is only a problem when a question is asked. I'd love to answer all your questions but I can't if I have no way to reply back. I'm not ignoring you...I promise...you need to change your settings to allow a reply.

New Project

Not much exciting going on with me these days, except for struggling with having no energy. I don't know what's going on, I'm really fighting taking naps. They say you should listen to your body and take a nap if needed, but lately I feel like I could nap several times a day. The days are sunny and I've been doing more gardening, maybe it's just the adjustment between winter and summer.

Here is a little peek at a new quilt I've been working on. The fabrics are bright and the black really adds contrast.
I love working on the Bunny Hill BOM, April basket is done. The little fat chick makes me laugh.

Happy Stitching. Thanks for dropping by.

All About Pink

Where has the week gone...we spent the weekend at the lake relaxing. There wasn't much to do since it rained most of the time. We got out for a couple of walks and saw the hummingbirds, a few bunnies and even a weasel sitting in the grass. One feeder had over a dozen birds flying around the feeder, it sure was cool to see that many hummingbirds in one place. I did some cutting for this quilt, the way the windmills are done requires squaring up of each block. This quilt I had 192 blocks to square. Once that is done the quilt goes together quickly. I just put the borders on yesterday....It's done and I love how very bright and cheery it will be for a summer quilt.
Here is a close up of one block and cherry border fabric.

Happy Stitching!

It's DONE!

First off...I want to give a BIG "thank you" for all your suggestions and comments to finish my redwork quilt, it was very much appreciated and helped me more than you'll know. The timing couldn't have been better, Lynn pointed me to this blog who had recently posted about quilting through stitchery and how anitque quilts have been done in the simple cross hatch quilting. A few comments mentioned invisible thread (invisible thread and I don't get along) which gave me the idea of using InvisaFil thread by WonderFil. The InvisaFil is very fine, almost like silk thread which is what I needed to have the thread blend with both the white background and the red. I used a light beige InvisaFil on top and a cotton thread in the bobbin. Sorry about the blurry picture, I must have gotten a little too close for the camera to handle, you get the idea. It's so great to have a whole world of quilting bloggers to ask for help, thanks again to all of you!!
I hope your weekend was spent with needle and thread.

Redwork Baskets

Okay...I need some help...how do I quilt this? I wasn't to keen on machine quilting because if I use red thread it will show on the white and if I use white thread it will stand out to much on the red. So do I hand quilt or not? And if I hand quilt, how should I do the hand quilting. I could do straight lines in red on the 9-patches but then what to do with the basket blocks? How do I quilt the red border? I have so many unanswered questions. Quilting is not my strong area. I've hit a road block and not sure what is the best way to finish this little quilt. Am I over thinking this a little too much? How can I keep it simple and still get it finished. Any suggestions is much appreciated.

Have a great weekend everyone.
