Sew Along

I've finished the quilting and binding on my 4 patch civil war quilt. I liked the sashing in between the blocks and then added the little 4 patch in the cornerstones. Don't have the exact dimensions of the quilt but it's a nice lap size. The little squares are 1" finished.
Making some progress on the American Patchwork and Quilting sew along in the Feb issue. These blocks are 15" and those little squares again are 1" finished.
I'm thinking this will become another lap quilt with 12 blocks. The piecing is taking so long and extra attention needed with the pressing. I've decided to just press all the seams open on these blocks, keeps them nice and flat without extra bulk.

Happy Quilting.

Civil War Quilt Challenge

Most of this last weekend has been spent in the garden. There is still lots to do but I made a good dent in getting the weeds out. The temperature has been prefect in that it's not to hot yet.

I forgot to show this sampler quilt a while back, this was part of a Civil War Sampler Quilt Challenge offered at Two Thimbles Quilt Shop. It was on display at the shop until last month. The idea was to use scraps only for the blocks, all the fabric for the blocks was provided. I added the sashing and border from my stash. You can see them all hanging here and the winners here.
I also finished this little quilt with applique, I like to use the freezer paper method. The log cabin blocks are made using scraps from a friends stash. She is down sizing and offered our stitching group some of her fabric. It was fun incorporating her fabric in my project.

Happy Quilting!
