Very little sewing going on this past week, I was busy with soooo many other things. What those "things" are, I couldn't tell you because I really don't remember what I did all week but.....I was busy. Have you ever had one of those weeks? Or is it just me? I hope it's not just me. We did go see the play "Wicked", that was so fantastic to see in person. I did this stitchery as well, so I do  have something to show for a whole week of doing nothing. Thanks for visiting and listening to my ramblings. Hopefully more quilting going on this week.

Busy Weekend

I've been thinking (sort of) about how I can improve and organize my sewing room, I know it's going to be a work in progress for a very long time. I currently don't have much on the walls, so I might as well start with something fun to go in my room, how about a wallhanging. As soon as I saw this pattern in the newest BH&G Quilt magazine, I had to start cutting right away.  This past weekend in between digging and planting, I sewed the top together.

We were also busy in the garden. I was so thrilled about how this tipsy pots planter came together, it's so simple, 3 pots and 1 dowel. You can see how it's done here. I can't wait for the plants to fill in more. Also my DH built a couple planter boxes in the garden for veggies, I planted carrots, spinach and lettuce.....we'll see if anything grows over the summer.

The roof is finished so I'm enjoying the peace and quiet over head.

Distractions

We've been having our roof on the house replaced this week, I find it difficult to concentrate with all the noise going on over head. It's very distracting to try and do anything, sounds like they are coming through the roof. The cats don't know what to do except curl up and hope the noise will stop.  The roof should be all finished up today......yippee..... I've had enough already, make it stop.

I went sewing at a friends and got most of the blocks for this table topper finished and when it was quiet in the evening I got it all pieced. It's going to be for the patio table. I did the split 9-patch blocks with 3 fabrics, the binding will be the lipstick red......my favourite red fabric.

The Mary Engelbreit fabric is so cheerful for a summer table setting. I didn't plan this project or figure out how much fabric I needed, just started cutting and hoped for the best, I had exactly the right amount of the yellow for the blocks and not one extra piece to spare.....whew.

Little Stars

I finished my little quilt with the LeMoyne stars shown here. I used a really pale pink for the alternate blocks and border, rather than the double pink in the pattern. I don't think hand piecing little stars will be in my future....don't get me wrong I love handwork but not this one.

I just had to have this rabbit quilt from the moment I saw it on Karen's blog.We agreed on a trade and I sent her my 9patch quilt with the feather quilting. We are both overjoyed with our quilts. I better get busy with the quilting so I can have it out all summer. Thanks Karen.

Hand PIecing and Chair Makeover

I've been working on my hand pieced LeMoyne stars. This has been sitting around my sewing room for a while.....a long while. I'd do a few stitches, put it down again and then forget about them. It was time to just get this one done.......finally all the stars are ready, it really didn't take long once I focused on it......I'm sure you've heard that one before. The pattern is by Carol Hopkins Designs called Sweet William. I'm almost finished the top, so it won't be long.

I don't know why I didn't work on these sooner, there is only 5 stars and the quilt is 22"x22".

Meanwhile another project around the house. I bought this chair about a year ago, my plan was to paint it and use it to display plants. Here is the before picture, washed and ready for paint. I think I paid $10 for the chair.

And this is the same chair after one can of RED spray paint. I have a piece of metal to be cut for the seat. The basket balances okay for now but I think it would be better to fill the seat in.

Happy Quilting.

Little Purse

The little hexagon purse is finished, you can see I started it here. I didn't want to cover up the hexagon's with the stitchery so I made another purse with one piece of fabric and added the stitchery, it says "Happiness is: a Little Stitching Each Day".

A better view of the stitchery, you can see by the rotary cutter how small these really are, I was surprised when I finally read the pattern, the finished size is 3"x6".

I hope you get a little time for stitching too.

Roll Roll, Cotton Boll

TA-DA......It's FINISHED.....I would say, definitely not a beginner quilt. It took me a bit of going back and forth figuring out how many blocks are in the border. I admire those that persisted and made the bigger version, mine is large enough for me, I think about 56 x 74.

Whew....it sure feels good to have this one completed. What's next? I'm sure there are lots of things waiting in my sewing room that I've forgot about.

Happy Quilting.
