Speck Quilt

My Speck quilt using the Little Bites pattern is finished.  Just need to get the quilting done. I used a Halloween charm pack and some yardage for the background and border which wasn't much. I have a few squares leftover so I might make a even smaller quilt to use them up.

I'm so thrilled I made this little quilt, look at those cute pumpkin faces. I don't remember the fabric line but I know it's older.

Christmas Runner

Another Christmas project checked off the list. I made this runner using a pattern from Cluck Cluck Sew called Peppermint Twist. I changed it a bit with only doing one row of blocks to make a skinny runner. I'd like to make the quilt sometime, it's a quick and easy pattern. The fabrics are called "Joy" by Kate Spain. Not my usual fabrics but it makes a great gift.

I'm ready for the Christmas train Darlene and Cheryl, one more project for the Christmas box is completed.

Little Bits

Very little in the way of sewing going on here. I've done little bits here and there. I'm working on a Sue Spargo needle case. There is a lot of stitching to do with embellishing now that the wool applique is finished.

The other little progress I made was sewing the binding on this panel. It doesn't feel like much accomplished on any projects. I've also finished cutting for my Speck quilt using Halloween fabrics. It might take me a while as there are lots of little pieces in this one. Slowly I might get something accomplished.

Happy Quilting.

Red and White Quilt

The plan was to have this quilt on my bed for the summer....well things happened and plans changed. My new plan is to have it ready for Valentines Day and then keep it on my bed for next summer. I haven't decided on the border yet. This is a free Moda Bake Shop pattern, I added 9 more blocks to make it big enough for a queen size, the outer border will be 5".

EDIT: I've had a few requests for the direct link to this pattern. It's called Charming Stars and can be found here.

The 5" squares are from a Red and White Swap I participated in last year. Karen organized everything so well. I loved recieving all the 5" squares that came from all over the world.

Weekend Excitement

It was an exciting long weekend at a family gathering and "Pig Roast" in Houston BC. Houston is a very small town about 1.5 hr flight from home and a 1 hour drive when we landed. We set up the tables and seating using hay bales. All five tables each had whatever flowers we could find around the farm and we used canning jars to display them. It all looked very country.

This is the pig roaster, they started the pig at 9am and dinner was ready about 10 hrs later.

More excited news....while I was away I won Cheryl's and Darlene's Christmas Through the Year giveaway AND double surprise I won Kathy's Bowl's with Borders Giveaway.  Woohoo...I was thrilled.

And even more excitement. The last day we were in Houston I was at the grocery store (the only one in town). I went over to the magazine section and reached for a quilting magazine and a lady standing there, made a comment that she looked at all of them last week. We started talking and Pamela is the long arm quilter in the area and she has a studio in her house. I was very surprised to find out this small town had a active guild of 17 people and Pamela stocks supplies and fabrics in her home. I wish I knew sooner but being the last day of our visit I couldn't make it to see her studio. I hope to visit her next time.

The pig is just about ready to be carved. This 90 pound pig did not last long with over 30 hungry people around.

So that was a pretty exciting weekend for sure.
